A Hundred Days off' is an amazing release, and of course one can hear the lack of Darren Emmerson, but that doesn't mean it's missing much, just means that Rick Smith put more of his beat usage t. .well USE. The album isn't as Techno heavy as Beaucoup Fish, but it's hellova lot more on the catchy side, I have yet to hear people sing lyrics for an Underworld song more than Born Slippy, but ill tell you 'Two Months Off' got pretty close, with it's highly joyful tone and melody, and hardcore techno beats. The album is truly diverse with Super Techno.

A Hundred Days Off is the sixth album by Underworld. The album produced two UK Singles Chart entries: "Two Months Off", which reached no. 12 and "Dinosaur Adventure 3D", which reached no. 34. Although this was the first album since Darren Emerson's departure from the group in 2001, the album is not a huge stylistic makeover as the main focus of the band is still trance, techno and house, although without the thumping beats that defined their previous longplayer Beaucoup Fish.

As if they didn't have to prove they're still viable as a commercial and artistic outfit, Underworld's Rick Smith and Karl Hyde faced an additional challenge for A Hundred Days Off - prove to the dance cognoscenti they could withstand the loss of Darren Emerson, the producer who kick-started the band when he joined in 1992. Unfortunately, the results prove only that Emerson most likely did contribute a certain something, now lacking, to the three LPs he graced

With the release of One Hundred Days Off, Underworld has reinforced its reputation as one of the most influential artistic outfits of the electronic music world. The new effort is one hour of sheer music listening delight. From here the album twists its way through the laid back, lounge-y delights of ‘Twist’ and the ambient slow groove of ‘Sola Sistim’, to the funked up sliding notes of ‘Trim’ – astonishingly, a cowboy-inspired track that doesn’t verge on the nasty side of spurred boots and ten gallon hats. The more frenzied tracks are balanced out nicely by a couple of chilled out pieces that gently ripple their way down to the base of your spine.

A Hundred Days Off is merely the next step in their process. It's the best thing they've hammered out since tumbling from the lofty heights of an, though given their interim releases, that isn't saying much of anything. What's interesting, though, is that they've managed to refine their sound without hardly changing it. Their music has a sort of unyielding rigidity- no matter how much they change things superficially, the fundamentals are instantly recognizable. The most notable improvement, as befits the album's title, is that this time around, Underworld take things a little easier. The record is far more low-key and subdued, yet holds just shy of complacency. Tracks like "SolaSistim" are stylish and direct, easily enjoyed by the subconscious while you relax in the local sensory-deprivation tank.
