This page is a discography for the musician Mike Oldfield. Although the introduction theme was used in The Exorcist, Tubular Bells (1973) was not a soundtrack album. Oldfield was commissioned to produce the music for NASA's The Space Movie in 1979; no soundtrack album was released at the time. However a DVD and CD soundtrack (though the CD content is just the audio track from the DVD, including voiceovers and sound effects) were issued in October 2015.
Michael Gordon "Mike" Oldfield (born 15 May 1953, Reading, Berkshire) is an English t musician and composer, working a style that blends progressive rock, folk, ethnic or world music, classical music, electronic music, New Age, and more recently, dance. His music is often elaborate and complex in nature. He is best known for his hit 1973 album Tubular Bells, which launched Virgin Records, and for his 1983 hit single "Moonlight Shadow". He is also well known for his hit rendition of the Christmas piece, "In Dulci Jubilo".
Mike Oldfield’s sixth album was a beautiful blend of instrumentals and songs that showed how he was able to adapt to the shifting musical mores of the new decade. Released in October 1980, it features two of his most loved instrumentals, QE2 and Taurus, as well as cover versions of Wonderful Land by the Shadows and, surprisingly perhaps for the time, Arrival by Abba. The Killing Fields is the 10th record album by Mike Oldfield, released in 1984. It was the soundtrack album for the film of the same name. Islands is the 11th album by Mike Oldfield, released in 1987. Guest singers on the album are Bonnie Tyler, Kevin Ayers, Anita Hegerland and Jim Price.

Mike Oldfield is a brilliant musician and composer whose career has spanned over 40 years. His most famous work ‘Tubular Bells’ was his very first album and sold millions of copies and launched his career at the young age of 19. This is a list of the top 5 Mike Oldfield albums. There are a lot of list out there that attempt to rate his albums. I wanted to create a list to put things in perspective based on the ‘essence’ of what a Mike Oldfield album embodies. Oldfield’s earliest influences and childhood training were in folk music. Oldfield himself states that his conceptual intent for Tubular Bells was to try and create a mix of rock and classical music.
Mike OLDFIELD took up the guitar at seven and was composing instrumental pieces by age 10. With his sister Sally, he secured a record deal under the name SALLYANGIE and released the folkish album "Children of the Sun" in 1968. After the mediocre The Millennium Bell Mike Oldfield released another irrelevant album named Tres Lunas. And this time he joined to the Chill Out mode back in the beginning of the new millennium with a rather boring and repetitive album with some glimpses of genius in songs like the precious Turtle Island, the pop hit To Be Free and maybe also No Man's Land.
